It’s widely hailed as the most realistic representation of war ever put on screen, and one of the most challenging battle scenes in an epic war film. This week, on Art of the Scene, in honor of the 71st anniversary of D-Day, we’re looking at the storming of Omaha Beach from Saving Private Ryan. SUBSCRIBE: http://goo.gl/9AGRm Steven Spielberg’s take on this historic battle aimed to do honor to those who fought, and the result is a realistic - and very human - perspective on the chaos of war. But getting the scene put to film was an enormous challenge for everyone involved. From intense military training for the cast, to intensive attention to detail from the costume and art departments, re-creating this seminal historical moment was a mission for hundreds of filmmaking pros. Glenda Musilek of Omaha, has always maintained a home studio and also had a studio/gallery in the Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha, Nebraska in 2010 and 2011. Due to flooding concerns in the summer of 2011 and the resultant decreased traffic to the building, Glenda closed the studio/gallery at the end of July, 2011. Since that time Glenda Musilek has been looking for another location and has found one that should suit her needs very well with space for the studio/gallery and teaching area. OMAHA ART SEEN June 2016
Omaha, Nebraska is rocking a great local art scene, and when artists Maggie Weber and Sharon Davis heard about Red Nose Day, they were excited to do their part to spread the word. Associates from the local Walgreens came out to make sure they were properly outfitted with Red Nose Flair for the special occasion, and by the end of the day, the side of the Leavenworth Bar was outfitted with a gorgeous mural depicting Red Nose Day in Nebraska. If you happen to drive by their work, be sure to honk in support - then go pick up your very own flair at the local Walgreens!

What could it be? Anything, depending on you. An explosion of color. A jewel of the human mind. But no matter what it is, no matter what you make of it, it’s not something you see. It’s something you absorb. And the reason? The reason for all this work, this color, this wonder? The reason is you. To visit a place filled with gifts you can tuck into your memory forever. Wouldn't that be nice?
